There is no such thing as a two-sign person, and no such thing as a blended sign. At the instant you were born the Sun occupied one position in the sky, and that position was inside one sign or inside the other. There is no middle ground, no wide frontier, no transition band. There is a line, and a side of it.

The idea of “being a cusp” came from a misunderstanding worth clearing up, because it turns up everywhere. In astrology, a cusp is the beginning of a HOUSE, the degree at which one of the twelve areas of life opens. It is a house term, not a sign term. Nobody who works with charts says a person “is a Gemini-Cancer cusp”, because the phrase describes nothing that exists in the sky.

What does exist is a legitimate question that the date cannot answer: had the Sun already crossed the line when I was born? That question has an exact answer, and it is in the tool above.

Because the line does not fall at the same hour every year, nor on the same day. The Sun enters Aries at the instant of the equinox, and that instant arrives about six hours later each year until a leap year pushes it back a day. The twelve borders do the same. That is why a printed table, always saying “22 November to 21 December”, is right on twenty-seven days out of thirty and wrong on the three at the ends.

And there is a second layer that almost every site forgets: summer time. Brazil had summer time in almost every year between 1985 and 2019, and in several periods before that. Anyone born on 22 November 1995 at three in the afternoon was on a clock running one hour ahead, and that hour is exactly what decides between Scorpio and Sagittarius on that day. This is the part nobody explains, and it has an astronomical answer, not a poetic one.

The neighbouring sign really is in your chart. It just is not your Sun. Mercury never gets more than 27.8 degrees from the Sun, and Venus never more than 47.3, those are the maximum elongations of the two, measured over the range 1900 to 2100. In plain terms: both planets travel glued to the Sun, and when the Sun is in the last degree of a sign, there is a good chance they have already crossed the line.

That can be measured, and we measured it. Among people born with the Sun less than one degree from the border, 62% have Mercury or Venus in the neighbouring sign, Mercury in half the cases, Venus in a quarter. The count covers every border day from 1930 to 2025.

In other words: if you were born on the change and you recognise yourself in both signs, you are probably right. But not because your Sun is half and half, rather because the way you think and talk (Mercury) or what you find beautiful and how you love (Venus) ended up on the other side of the line. They are different pieces, with different names, and the chart tells them apart with no effort at all.

It is a better answer than “you are a cusp” for a practical reason: it says WHICH part of you belongs to the other sign. The other one says nothing.

One of the two signs is yours and the other is not, even if you never find out which. Honest astrology does not invent a third category to cover missing information.

The time is usually in one of three places, and it is worth looking in this order: on the birth certificate (a reissued copy carries the field, and it is almost always filled in), on the maternity card or booklet, and in the hospital's records, which in many places are kept for decades. It is worth asking: that same hour is what opens the Ascendant and the twelve houses, which are the half of the chart the date alone cannot reach.

Until it turns up, the way through is what the tool above does: look at the instant of the change and compare it with what the family remembers. “In the morning” or “before dawn” is usually enough, because the line falls at a specific hour and not across a range.

Read the text for the sign the tool pointed to, and read carefully the part about what it does NOT say. People born near the border tend to expect more from the Sun sign than it delivers, precisely because they spent their lives in doubt about it.

After that, the step that settles the doubt for good is the whole chart. A chart shows which sign Mercury and Venus fell into, and that is where the feeling of “I am both” usually finds its proper name, with a degree, with a position and without metaphor.
