July, school holidays, the house full. Mum comes to stay for a few days, the kids are off school, your brother turns up on Sunday with his new girlfriend. And at the lunch table, back comes the matter nobody settled last time: who is going to look after dad after the surgery, what to do with grandma's flat, why you barely call anymore.

Sometimes the return is lighter. A message from a cousin you had not spoken to in years. The box of photos that turns up when someone decides to sort out the wardrobe. The family recipe your aunt decides to make again, and that nobody quite remembers.

That is the mood of the Mercury retrograde in the middle of 2027. It turns retrograde from 10 June, at 3:20pm, until 4 July, at 4:39pm, Brasília time, and makes its way back from Cancer to Gemini: it stations at 6°21' Cancer and picks up forward motion again at 27°28' Gemini. Cancer is home, family, what nourishes you. Gemini is everyday conversation, the message, the brother, the neighbourhood. The weeks ahead bring both up for review.

Notice that the exit shadow lands right in the middle of the July holidays. The matter that surfaced in early June tends to come back then, with everyone home, to be worked through at leisure.

Mercury is the planet of speech, message and reasoning. In Cancer, it speaks with memory: it remembers who said what at Christmas years ago, feels before it argues, protects the people it loves even when it should just listen.
