Do Libra and Libra match?

Libra and Libra: two who ask the other what they'd prefer. I measured 600,000 pairs: the elements rule approves the pair and does not predict your Moon.

The short answer

Watercolour zodiac wheel, with the twelve signs in a circle

Two people who ask each other what they'd prefer. By the rule of the elements, Libra is air and Libra is air — and the rule approves this pair. Keep that in mind and read on, because the rule answers far less than it seems to.

Two Libras build the most pleasant house in the whole series. Nobody shouts, nobody is rude, both notice the beauty in things and both make a point of the other feeling comfortable. And there is a real relief here: Libra spends life being called indecisive, and here nobody demands a quick decision — both understand that weighing things takes time.

What the element rule says, and what I measured

The table every magazine publishes is simple: fire matches fire and air, earth matches earth and water. It was not invented yesterday, and it has a geometric reason — signs of the same element sit 120 degrees apart, and allied elements sit 60 degrees apart. Those are the trine and the sextile, the two aspects that tradition calls harmonious. The compatibility table is the aspect table applied to a single planet.

It puts half the zodiac on each person's list, which already shows how little information that is. And it can be tested against the numbers. I drew a random sample of 600,000 pairs of birth dates between 1966 and 2025, using the same ephemeris that builds charts on this site, and asked: in the pairs the rule approves, do the other pieces follow along?

Between any two chartsPairs the rule approvesPairs it fails
The Moons match up49.8%50.0%
There's a Sun–Moon contact46.4%46.4%
There's a Venus–Mars contact46.1%46.2%
Contacts between the two charts26.726.6

The columns are the same. Knowing that the rule approves or fails your pair tells you nothing about the other person's Moon, nothing about desire, and nothing about how many contacts the two charts have. And 50.0% is exactly what a coin toss would give you.

That does not make the table false. It makes it small: it describes a trait of temperament, read from a single point on the chart. Using it to decide who to date is reading a book by its title's first letter.

Libra and Libra in practice: where this pair gets stuck

The blind spot is that nobody decides and nobody complains. Both ask each other what they'd prefer, and the question bounces back. Choosing the restaurant takes ages, the move to another city gets put off, and the complaint never gets voiced because voicing it would feel unpleasant. The bill runs up on both sides in parallel, and one day it comes due all at once, usually as a sudden decision the other never saw coming — which is Libra's way of ending things.

What decides it is where the rest of the chart DIFFERS. Two Libras with Mars in Aries and Mars in Pisces are not the same house: one can say “I don't want this” on the spot, the other takes three weeks and a crisis.

What usually unblocks things: take turns deciding. A simple rule — today I choose, tomorrow you do, without asking the other's opinion — solves more than any conversation about assertiveness, because it takes the decision out of the territory of tact. And it's worth setting a time for the complaint: an agreed moment when saying what bothers you does not mean the relationship is going badly. Without that, this pair puts it off forever. And it helps for each one to have a part of life where they decide alone, without checking in: two people who ask each other about everything end up not knowing what they themselves want, and the boundary hands each one back their own taste. And it's worth saying the complaint while it is still small: in this pair the irritation does not vanish for going unsaid, it just changes shape — and comes out later as a decision already made.

Your Moon changes sign every two and a half days, and your Ascendant every two hours. It is the difference between “we are Libra and Libra” and knowing what the two of you actually are.

What the element table doesn't look at in this pair

The element rule reads one thing only: the element. Each sign carries two other labels the table ignores, and in both cases they say more about the day-to-day than the element does. The modality — cardinal, fixed or mutable — is the way a person goes into a subject: cardinal starts it, fixed holds it, mutable changes it. And the ruler is the planet that gives the sign its vocabulary.

Libra is cardinal and ruled by Venus; Libra is cardinal and ruled by Venus.

Both are cardinal signs, and it is the cardinal sign that shows the least: Libra starts out negotiating. Both are proposing and adjusting all the time, and since neither imposes, the relationship runs on mutual concessions nobody asked for. It is an elegant, tiring choreography — each one giving up something the other never asked them to give up.

And both belong to Venus, the planet of pleasing. A house run by two Venuses has no one in charge of discomfort: it lacks a Mars to say “I won't accept this” and lacks a Saturn to say “this has a deadline.” What this pair needs most is exactly what neither one wants to be.

Notice what this does to a fight. It doesn't happen — which does not mean it doesn't exist. It turns into fine irony, convenient forgetting, delay. Two Libras can spend a year fighting without ever once having argued, and it is the kind of wear that leaves no visible mark until it does.

The one thing your sun sign decides about the other person

There is one exception to "the table tells you nothing", and it comes down to pure geometry. Venus never moves more than 47.2 degrees from the Sun — it is an inner planet, and from Earth's point of view it stays tied to the Sun's light. Given your sun sign, your Venus can only fall in five signs.

So the distance between two sun signs decides the odds that both Venuses land in the same sign. Measured across the same 600,000 pairs:

Signs apartAspectBoth Venuses in the same sign
0 (the same sign)conjunction24.3%
1 signsemi-sextile19.2%
2 signssextile12.9%
3 signssquare5.5%
4 signstrine0.8%
5 or 6 signsquincunx and opposition0.0%

Libra and Libra sit at 0° from each other — conjunction — and that puts this pair in the 24.3% range. The two of you may well have Venus in the same sign, and it is the one affinity your sun sign guarantees, at least a little.

Notice what the table does with the element rule: it cannot follows the rule. Pairs the rule fails come out on top of the list, and pairs it approves come out at the bottom. The Venus link is real, and it is geometric — and it is why the compatibility table sometimes seems to work. It works a little, and not for the reason it claims to.

What no sign table can reach

Four pieces that change everything, and that no sun-sign table can reach:

This crossing is what's called synastry, and it needs both people's date, time and city of birth. Comparing sun signs is what's left when you don't have that.

And the limit stated out loud still holds: astrology decides nothing for anyone, doesn't tell you to stay or leave, and doesn't replace conversation or therapy. It gives you vocabulary. A couple who discover that one Moon needs routine and the other needs novelty have gained a better question than they had before.

Frequently asked questions about Libra and Libra

Do Libra and Libra match?

By the rule of the elements, yes: Libra is air and Libra is air. But that rule reads one point on the chart out of the ten that exist. I measured 600,000 pairs of birth dates: among those the rule approves, the Moons match 49.8% of the time; among those it rejects, 50.0% of the time. Chance sits at 50%. Your two sun signs do not tell you whether the relationship works.

What is the aspect between Libra and Libra?

0°, which tradition calls a conjunction. It is zero distance: the same sign, with everything that repeats because of it.

Can a Libra's Venus be in Libra?

It can, and it is the most common case: 24.3% of the time both Venuses fall in the same sign. That window is the only thing your sun signs actually decide about each other's charts.

So what decides whether two people are compatible?

The crossing of the two full charts, which is what's called synastry: one person's Moon with the other's Sun, one person's Venus with the other's Mars, and the house each one falls into on the other's chart. None of that comes off a sign chart — it needs both people's date, time and city of birth.

Do any two charts have few contacts between them?

Quite the opposite: the average is 26.6 contacts between two charts, with a 6-degree orb, and across 600,000 randomly drawn pairs none came out at zero. That's why "we have so many aspects!" means nothing on its own. What a reading does with the 26.6 is weigh them, not add them up.

The numbers on this page hold for any pair of people, because they come from the sky. What does not show up in them is your case. Two charts bring 26.6 contacts on average, and what a reading does with them is weigh — which are exact, which involve the Moon, which fall in a house that matters. Without both birth dates, times and cities, this page describes two signs, not two people.

How we interpret your chart

Methodology

The interpretation follows the Shelly Gonella method — a well-known astrologer who never reads a position in isolation.

01

Every reading combines planet, sign, house, aspects, ruler of the house and position of the ruler, identifying patterns that repeat in your chart.

02

The result is an integrated interpretation, made to turn astrological information into clarity, real understanding and practical use.

Have you ever gone to an astrology site, generated your birth chart and started reading each position separately?

"Moon in Pisces."

"Venus in Gemini."

"Uranus in House 7."

You get dozens of interpretations but, in the end, you still do not understand how any of it applies to your life.

Worse still: many people end up concluding that "astrology does not work" when, in fact, the problem is how the chart was interpreted. A birth chart is not a collection of loose meanings.

In professional astrology there is a methodology of reading. There is an order, criteria and specific guidelines that show which elements carry more weight, how they relate to each other and which patterns really repeat. That is what turns information into understanding. It was for that reason that I developed my method of interpretation.

Instead of simply explaining what each planet, sign or house means, I answer the question that really matters:

"What do I do with this?"

How does that position influence my relationships? My career? My challenges? My talents? My decisions?

Because astrology only makes sense when it stops being a list of traits and becomes a practical tool for understanding who you are, why certain patterns repeat and how to use that knowledge to live with more awareness.

Most charts explain what you have.

My method explains how everything works together, which patterns in your chart matter most and, above all, what to do with that information in practice.

That is the difference between reading a birth chart and truly understanding it.

High-precision astronomical calculations, checked position by position to guarantee the accuracy of every sign, house and aspect in your chart.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about your reading

How does it work?

You enter your birth data and receive the graphic of your birth chart free, with the positions of the planets, signs, houses and aspects. Then you choose the area you want to understand first: the written interpretation is ready within 1 day and opens in your library, here inside the site.

Is the interpretation created from my chart?

Yes. The content is organised from the real positions of the planets, signs, houses, aspects and rulers of your birth chart — never from a standard text that would serve anyone with the same isolated position.

Do I need to know the exact time of birth?

For the free chart, no: without the time it is still possible to calculate the positions of the planets, but the Ascendant and the houses become unavailable or less precise. For the interpretation you buy, yes — the time is indispensable, because the Ascendant, the houses and much of what the reading analyses come from it. If you are not sure of the time, check your birth certificate before ordering: without it the result would be led into error.

How long until I receive my analysis?

Within 1 day of the payment clearing — and usually well before. It opens on its own in your library, and you can close the page while you wait.

Do I get a PDF? Does access expire?

Yes, the interpretation is available to download as a PDF. And access does not expire: after the purchase it stays in your account.

Can I buy more than one analysis?

Yes. After the first sign-up, you can order as many as you like with the same login — they are all kept in your library.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your birth data is used only to calculate the birth chart and is never shared with third parties. The payment details go straight to whoever charges — this page does not store card numbers.
