The sign of Jupiter says HOW you grow; the house says WHERE life opens space for you. They are two different questions, and in this series the second is worth more than the first, for a reason no other family of texts on this blog has.

The sign of Jupiter belongs to your whole age group. It stays about a year in each sign, so everybody born in the same period has the same one. The house is yours alone. Two people born in the same week have the same Jupiter in Sagittarius, and one has it in the 2nd house, where it becomes money that turns up, and the other in the 12th, where it becomes a generosity nobody sees. It is another life, with the same sign.

That is why this is the half that individualises. Whoever read the series of signs and thought it described half the world was right: it did. This is where the reading becomes about you.

And the hard difference of this series has to be said before anything else: the house depends on the exact time of birth. The whole chart turns about one degree every four minutes, and a house boundary passes in around two hours. It shows in the variety of people this person knows, and in how things arrive through them. These are concrete signs, the kind you recognise in your own week:

• opportunity arrives through the group, and not by applying
• has a wide, mixed network from different worlds
• is invited to a collective project often
• defends a cause that benefits her in no way
• gets in early on what has not yet become fashionable

Notice what this list does not say. It does not say the person is self-serving or scattered, two labels this placement carries and that describe the excess, not the placement. It says life makes room for her in the collective.

In practice that turns into three useful things: a network that produces invitations with no apparent effort; an ability to see early what is going to become a subject, which pays off in a career; and a natural place in any group, which turns a collective project into something that actually happens.

That strength does best in collective work, technology, community, associations, a social cause and any arrangement with a lot of people and one aim. And it does badly in isolated work, a rigid hierarchy with no explanation and anywhere disagreeing with the group costs you your place.

There are two, and they are opposites: the excess is the network turning into a diary with nothing left for anybody, and the deficiency is the person who stopped expecting anything good from this area. The deficiency is the opposite and passes for humility: the person shrank the expectation until it fit somewhere it does not hurt. Here she is the person who was let down by a group and withdrew. After a collective betrayal or a cause that turned into something else, she decided not to join anything again, and since the mechanism of this house is the network, she switched off her own source of opportunity and calls it growing up.

Both faces have the same raw material, and that is why the repair is the same: a network that needs a close bond alongside it, and not fewer people. It is not solved by asking the person to concentrate on her own, the width is the talent. Every house has a pair, and the pair of 11 is house 5. They are not separate subjects: they are the two ends of the same pair, and an excess at one end shows up as a lack at the other. The 5th house is the opposite: what comes out of you, the romance with a name, the signed work. A Jupiter in the 11th very diluted in the group tends to have nothing that is only hers, no project of her own, no chosen person.

The adjustment is to sign something. A work of her own, a wish of her own, said in the singular. Whoever spends a life in the collective and never in her own name ends up with a full diary and a vague biography.

It matures when the person starts watering the network on purpose and choosing in the singular, and those two things together are worth more than any attempt to learn to be more individualistic. The network goes on being the talent; what changes is that it stops costing her intimacy.

And here is the rhythm that is easiest to check in the whole chart: the Jupiter return, every twelve years. At around 12, 24, 36, 48 and 60, it comes back to the degree it was at when you were born, and the subject of THIS HOUSE asks for new space. Here the returns usually come with a group: a new community, a collective project that takes off, a break with a crowd that no longer served.

It is worth doing the sum looking backwards, because it is the most checkable ruler there is: at those ages, what happened in your life in this area?

Maturity here is not learning to keep away. It is the person coming to tell apart the group that makes her grow from the group she frequents out of habit. A mature Jupiter in the 11th house stays in the collective, and starts signing in the singular, and it is that signature that turns a full diary into a body of work.

No honest text gives an age for this. The arc depends on the whole chart and on the life the person had.

It says where life tends to open space for you, and not that it will open with you doing nothing. An advantage of terrain with no work at all turns into nothing at all.
