Having no fire in your chart means none of the eleven points measured fell in Aries, Leo or Sagittarius. It is not a lack of energy, courage or willpower, it is a narrow statement about where the planets were, and it deserves to be read that way before it turns into a diagnosis.
The eleven points are the ten planets plus the Ascendant, the same count the grid in the free chart makes. Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are fire signs, and having none of the element means not one of the eleven fell in those three.
We measured 124,185 charts, every six hours between 1940 and 2025: 3.8% have no fire, the second least common of the four. In all, 17.3% of charts have at least one element empty, and only 0.2% have two.
And here is the finding almost no text about elements carries: missing fire is not equally possible in every generation. In the 2020s, 15.9% of the charts measured had no fire. In the 1940s and the 1950s, none did, zero across the 29,220 charts measured in those decades.
The cause is arithmetic rather than mystical: three of the eleven points are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, which stay seven to thirty years in each sign. Anyone born in the same stretch of years has all three in the same place, and three out of eleven is already more than a quarter of the grid. If they are parked in one element, that element is empty for nobody in that generation.
It is the same measurement the page on elements and modalities sets out in full: the grid swings 1.65 points between decades, and the three slow ones alone account for 1.66 of that.
When one element is missing, another is full, and not at random. In charts with no fire, the fullest element is earth 56.3% of the time , followed by water in 23.7% and air in 20.0%.
That is more useful than it looks: the reading is not "this is missing", it is "this went somewhere else". What the absent element would do is being done, in another accent and at another cost.
The eleven points include the three slow ones, which belong to your generation. Looking only at what is yours, Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars and the Ascendant 20.2% of charts have no fire.
And here the asymmetry disappears. Across the eleven points the four elements go missing at quite different rates (from 3.3% to 5.5%); across the six personal ones it is close to 20% for each of the four. With fewer points and the same four drawers, missing becomes the normal case, and stops saying anything about you in particular.
What tends to be missing is not the wanting: it is the START without a guarantee. People with no fire generally want the same things as everyone else and begin later, after being certain, after having a plan, after someone confirms it. The wanting is there; what does not come as standard is permission to act on it while it is still half-formed.
Three signals, of the kind you can check against the week going by:
- You have good ideas and mention them in the past tense, once they have already worked or already died.
- Other people’s enthusiasm produces more suspicion in you than contagion.
- You wait for anger to reach its limit before saying what bothers you, and then it comes out whole, all at once.
And there is what shows up instead, which is where the reading becomes useful: without fire, decisions tend to arrive by accumulation rather than by impulse. You gather reasons until the sum closes on its own, and then act with a steadiness that people with fire almost never have. It is slower and it gets things wrong less often.
It does not mean you are apathetic, shy or lacking initiative, and the measurement itself is the proof: nearly four in a hundred charts have no fire, and the world is not full of people standing still. Nor does it mean something is missing that needs fixing. An address is missing, and the address has a substitute.
And the caveat the whole series makes applies here: with no birth time there are ten points rather than eleven, because the Ascendant is the only one that depends on the clock. An element that appears only in the Ascendant vanishes from the chart of someone who does not know their time, and the absence becomes one of the data, not of the sky.
And the questions that come up most on this subject, with the short answer:
Is having no fire in your chart bad? No. A missing element happens in 17.3% of charts, one in six, and it is neither a defect nor something to fix. It is an empty address: none of the eleven points fell in Aries, Leo and Sagittarius. What that element would do still gets done, and in charts with no fire the one that usually takes over is earth, 56.3% of the time.
How many people have no fire in their chart? Measured across 124,185 charts between 1940 and 2025, 3.8% have no fire, the second least common of the four. But the share depends heavily on the generation: in the 2020s it was 15.9%, and in the 1940s and the 1950s not a single one across the 29,220 charts measured in those decades.
How do I make up for the lack of fire? Not by trying to become someone else. What works is recognising that in that department you operate by method rather than by instinct, and method is a choice, not a limitation. It is also worth looking at the HOUSE the planets fell in: a subject can be full of attention even with no point in that element.
Can I tell without my birth time? You can, with one caveat that changes the result: without the time there are ten points rather than eleven, because the Ascendant is the only one that depends on the clock. If your fire appeared only in the Ascendant, it vanishes from a chart with no time, and the absence becomes one of the data, not of the sky.
In short:
Keywords chart with no fire, missing fire in the birth chart, chart elements
A missing element is common: it happens in 17.3% of charts. What almost nobody says is that your decade decides a good share of it, three of the eleven points sit for years in the same sign. See your grid free here.
