Do Pisces and Pisces work?

Pisces and Pisces: two who understand everything, and a house with no edge. I measured 600,000 pairs: the elements rule approves the pair and does not predict your Moon.

The short answer

Watercolour zodiac wheel, with the twelve signs in a circle

Two who understand everything, and a house with no edge. By the element rule, Pisces is water and Pisces is water — and the rule approves this pair. Keep that in mind and read on, because the rule answers far less than it seems to.

Two Pisces recognise each other without needing a word. Neither one demands an explanation, neither one judges the other's bad day, and both have a capacity to forgive that almost nobody has. For someone who's spent a lifetime hearing they're too sensitive, being with someone who thinks that's the bare minimum is a relief hard to put into words — and tenderness comes easier here than in any other pair in the series.

What the element rule says, and what I measured

The table every magazine publishes is simple: fire matches fire and air, earth matches earth and water. It was not invented yesterday, and it has a geometric reason — signs of the same element sit 120 degrees apart, and allied elements sit 60 degrees apart. Those are the trine and the sextile, the two aspects that tradition calls harmonious. The compatibility table is the aspect table applied to a single planet.

It puts half the zodiac on each person's list, which already shows how little information that is. And it can be tested against the numbers. I drew a random sample of 600,000 pairs of birth dates between 1966 and 2025, using the same ephemeris that builds charts on this site, and asked: in the pairs the rule approves, do the other pieces follow along?

Between any two chartsPairs the rule approvesPairs it fails
The Moons match up49.8%50.0%
There's a Sun–Moon contact46.4%46.4%
There's a Venus–Mars contact46.1%46.2%
Contacts between the two charts26.726.6

The columns are the same. Knowing that the rule approves or fails your pair tells you nothing about the other person's Moon, nothing about desire, and nothing about how many contacts the two charts have. And 50.0% is exactly what a coin toss would give you.

That does not make the table false. It makes it small: it describes a trait of temperament, read from a single point on the chart. Using it to decide who to date is reading a book by its title's first letter.

Pisces and Pisces in practice: where this pair gets stuck

The blind spot is that there's no shape to any of it. Neither one says no, neither one asks for anything, neither one carries the hard conversation through to the end. Plans stay vague, bills run late, the friend who always needs something keeps needing it. And the fight never happens: one backs off, the other backs off in response, and the two of them drift apart inside the same house. When someone finally speaks up, they've usually already decided — and the other one never saw it coming, because they weren't really looking either.

What decides it is where the rest of the chart DIFFERS. Two Pisces with a strong Saturn and a weak Saturn are not the same house: one can say "this I won't do," the other agrees to everything and then disappears.

What usually unblocks things: a system that doesn't depend on discipline — automatic payments, one account for fixed expenses, a shared calendar. This pair doesn't fail from bad intentions, and it always fails for the same reason. And it's worth keeping steady people close: a straight-talking friend, someone from the family, a therapist — because inside this house nobody's going to say the uncomfortable thing, and someone needs to say it. And it's worth agreeing to voice the irritation the week it comes up, even badly put: in this pair, what goes unsaid doesn't disappear — it comes out later, as absence. And it's worth deciding beforehand who handles the money and the calendar, the same way you'd agree on who takes out the rubbish: the job isn't natural to either one, and goodwill won't sort it out.

Your Moon changes sign every two and a half days, and your Ascendant every two hours. That's the difference between "we're both Pisces" and knowing what the two of you actually are.

What the element table doesn't look at in this pair

The element rule reads one thing only: the element. Each sign carries two other labels the table ignores, and in both cases they say more about the day-to-day than the element does. The modality — cardinal, fixed or mutable — is the way a person goes into a subject: cardinal starts it, fixed holds it, mutable changes it. And the ruler is the planet that gives the sign its vocabulary.

Pisces is mutable and ruled by Jupiter; Pisces is mutable and ruled by Jupiter.

Both are mutable, and it's the combination with the least friction and the least ground under the wheel. Nobody holds a position — so there's no deadlock — and nobody holds a direction — so there's no long-term project. Two people who adapt this much to each other find out, some years in, that it's hard to say what either one actually wanted.

And both belong to Jupiter, the planet that magnifies whatever it touches. Two people like this exaggerate the generosity, the excuse given to someone who didn't deserve it, the yes said because they didn't know how to say no. There's no planet here to set a limit: Saturn is missing to set the deadline, and Mars is missing to say "this I won't accept."

Notice what this pair does best: both know how to sit with someone's pain without trying to fix it. It's a skill almost nobody has — and that's why this pair is often, for their friends, the place you can turn up to in any state.

The one thing your sun sign decides about the other person

There is one exception to "the table tells you nothing", and it comes down to pure geometry. Venus never moves more than 47.2 degrees from the Sun — it is an inner planet, and from Earth's point of view it stays tied to the Sun's light. Given your sun sign, your Venus can only fall in five signs.

So the distance between two sun signs decides the odds that both Venuses land in the same sign. Measured across the same 600,000 pairs:

Signs apartAspectBoth Venuses in the same sign
0 (the same sign)conjunction24.3%
1 signsemi-sextile19.2%
2 signssextile12.9%
3 signssquare5.5%
4 signstrine0.8%
5 or 6 signsquincunx and opposition0.0%

Pisces and Pisces are 0° apart — conjunction — and that puts this pair in the 24.3% range. The two of you may well have Venus in the same sign, and it is the one affinity your sun sign guarantees, at least a little.

Notice what the table does with the element rule: it cannot follows the rule. Pairs the rule fails come out on top of the list, and pairs it approves come out at the bottom. The Venus link is real, and it is geometric — and it is why the compatibility table sometimes seems to work. It works a little, and not for the reason it claims to.

What no sign table can reach

Four pieces that change everything, and that no sun-sign table can reach:

This crossing is what's called synastry, and it needs both people's date, time and city of birth. Comparing sun signs is what's left when you don't have that.

And the limit stated out loud still holds: astrology decides nothing for anyone, doesn't tell you to stay or leave, and doesn't replace conversation or therapy. It gives you vocabulary. A couple who discover that one Moon needs routine and the other needs novelty have gained a better question than they had before.

Frequently asked questions about Pisces and Pisces

Do Pisces and Pisces work?

By the element rule, yes: Pisces is water and Pisces is water. But that rule reads one point on the chart out of the ten that exist. I measured 600,000 pairs of birth dates: among the ones the rule approves, the Moons match 49.8% of the time; among the ones it disapproves of, 50.0%. The chance rate is 50%. Your two Sun signs don't tell you whether the relationship works.

What's the aspect between Pisces and Pisces?

0°, which tradition calls a conjunction. It is zero distance: the same sign, with everything that repeats because of it.

Can a Pisces Venus be in Pisces?

It can, and it is the most common case: 24.3% of the time both Venuses fall in the same sign. That window is the only thing your sun signs actually decide about each other's charts.

So what decides whether two people are compatible?

The crossing of the two full charts, which is what's called synastry: one person's Moon with the other's Sun, one person's Venus with the other's Mars, and the house each one falls into on the other's chart. None of that comes off a sign chart — it needs both people's date, time and city of birth.

Do any two charts have few contacts between them?

Quite the opposite: the average is 26.6 contacts between two charts, with a 6-degree orb, and across 600,000 randomly drawn pairs none came out at zero. That's why "we have so many aspects!" means nothing on its own. What a reading does with the 26.6 is weigh them, not add them up.

The numbers on this page hold for any pair of people, because they come from the sky. What does not show up in them is your case. Two charts bring 26.6 contacts on average, and what a reading does with them is weigh — which are exact, which involve the Moon, which fall in a house that matters. Without both birth dates, times and cities, this page describes two signs, not two people.

How we interpret your chart

Methodology

The interpretation follows the Shelly Gonella method — a well-known astrologer who never reads a position in isolation.

01

Every reading combines planet, sign, house, aspects, ruler of the house and position of the ruler, identifying patterns that repeat in your chart.

02

The result is an integrated interpretation, made to turn astrological information into clarity, real understanding and practical use.

Have you ever gone to an astrology site, generated your birth chart and started reading each position separately?

"Moon in Pisces."

"Venus in Gemini."

"Uranus in House 7."

You get dozens of interpretations but, in the end, you still do not understand how any of it applies to your life.

Worse still: many people end up concluding that "astrology does not work" when, in fact, the problem is how the chart was interpreted. A birth chart is not a collection of loose meanings.

In professional astrology there is a methodology of reading. There is an order, criteria and specific guidelines that show which elements carry more weight, how they relate to each other and which patterns really repeat. That is what turns information into understanding. It was for that reason that I developed my method of interpretation.

Instead of simply explaining what each planet, sign or house means, I answer the question that really matters:

"What do I do with this?"

How does that position influence my relationships? My career? My challenges? My talents? My decisions?

Because astrology only makes sense when it stops being a list of traits and becomes a practical tool for understanding who you are, why certain patterns repeat and how to use that knowledge to live with more awareness.

Most charts explain what you have.

My method explains how everything works together, which patterns in your chart matter most and, above all, what to do with that information in practice.

That is the difference between reading a birth chart and truly understanding it.

High-precision astronomical calculations, checked position by position to guarantee the accuracy of every sign, house and aspect in your chart.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about your reading

How does it work?

You enter your birth data and receive the graphic of your birth chart free, with the positions of the planets, signs, houses and aspects. Then you choose the area you want to understand first: the written interpretation is ready within 1 day and opens in your library, here inside the site.

Is the interpretation created from my chart?

Yes. The content is organised from the real positions of the planets, signs, houses, aspects and rulers of your birth chart — never from a standard text that would serve anyone with the same isolated position.

Do I need to know the exact time of birth?

For the free chart, no: without the time it is still possible to calculate the positions of the planets, but the Ascendant and the houses become unavailable or less precise. For the interpretation you buy, yes — the time is indispensable, because the Ascendant, the houses and much of what the reading analyses come from it. If you are not sure of the time, check your birth certificate before ordering: without it the result would be led into error.

How long until I receive my analysis?

Within 1 day of the payment clearing — and usually well before. It opens on its own in your library, and you can close the page while you wait.

Do I get a PDF? Does access expire?

Yes, the interpretation is available to download as a PDF. And access does not expire: after the purchase it stays in your account.

Can I buy more than one analysis?

Yes. After the first sign-up, you can order as many as you like with the same login — they are all kept in your library.

Is my data safe?

Yes. Your birth data is used only to calculate the birth chart and is never shared with third parties. The payment details go straight to whoever charges — this page does not store card numbers.
